New Slips, Trips & Falls Guide Available Now!

The Foundation in collaboration with NSW Department of Health has produced a new publication called Slips, Trips & Falls - A Guide.

One in three people over the age of 65 years have a fall in any given year. Low vision doubles the risk of falls, and the central vision loss associated with MD can result in impaired balance and increased risk of falls. Most falls are preventable, with about 50 per cent of falls occurring within homes or immediate surroundings*.

The Guide offers practical advice that can be used to help reduce the risks of slips, trips & falls. It also helps you plan what to do in the case of a fall. The goal is to promote healthy and independent aging, and to maintain quality of life.

The publication is primarily written for people with low vision along with their partners, carers, families and friends, so that all can be a part of creating a 'fall free' environment.
